About Loren Acton
House District 69

Born into a Montana ranching family, Loren Acton attended a one-room country school in Fergus County, high school in Billings, and Montana State in Bozeman -- where he met and married Evelyn Oldenburger. They have 2 married children and one granddaughter. Loren earned his doctorate from the University of Colorado in solar physics and has won international recognition in that field. After 29 years with the Lockheed Research Laboratory in California he returned to Montana and MSU in 1993. In 1985 Loren flew an 8-day space mission on the shuttle Challenger as a Payload Specialist in connection with his scientific work.
Statement
It is time for me to do my share to help assure that Montana is wisely and fairly governed. Although not previously active in politics I'm running for the MT House of Representatives as a Democrat. I consider myself politically progressive, moderate, and prepared to hear both sides of issues. Truth, humility, honesty, courage, respect, love and wisdom are not simply words to me; they express my profoundest values. My decisions as a legislator will be guided by frugality with public funds coupled with a deep concern for the future welfare of our children. House District 69 is the sort of community I'd most like to represent. I'll be working hard to win their confidence and their vote.
