Bozeman Chronicle: Jent to run for state Senate
"I had to get Republican friends to pass all of my bills," Jent said. "If I'm elected senator, that is exactly what I intend to do from here on."
Jent, 54, is running for Wheat's seat in Senate District 32, which covers Bozeman north of Main Street and stretches east to the Park County border.

Larry's Legislative Record
During Representative Jent's first term of a State Legislator, he served as a Vice Chair of the ethics committee. During his second term he served as Vice Chair of the State Administration and Veterans Affairs Committee. His other committee assignments are Health and Human Services, Fish Wildlife and Parks, and Rules. During his two terms in the House he introduced 24 bills, of which 19 became law, the best percentage of any minority member. Those bills addressed such varied topics as a no-call telemarketing list, clandestine drug labs, elimination of punch card ballots, comprehensive election reform and strengthening DUI laws. Representative Jent ran unsuccessfully for congress in 1996 and was elected to represent Montana at the 1996 and 2000 Democratic National Convention.
During his third term Larry served as Chairman of the State Administration Standing Committee.
Larry's Biography
Larry Jent - Montana - State Representative Montana State Representative, Larry Jent (D-Bozeman, MT), represents Montana's 64th Legislative District, located within the city limits of Bozeman, Gallatin County, 90 miles north of Yellowstone National Park.
He is a 1973 graduate of the
U.S. Military Academy and a 1983 graduate of the University of Colorado
School of Law. Representative Jent was commissioned as an infantry officer
and was initially assigned to Ft. Richardson Alaska as an airborne rifle
platoon leader and later as a company executive officer in the 172nd
Arctic Light Infantry Brigade. He then graduated from the Special Forces
Officer's course at Ft. Bragg and was assigned as an A-detachment commander
in the 3rd Battalion, Tenth Special Forces Group and. He later served
as a troop commander in the 163rd Armored Cavalry Regiment of the Montana
Army National Guard and as detachment commander in the 19th Special
Forces Group
Larry's Community involvement
- An avid bowhunter with three bow killed elk, Larry teaches Bowhunter Education through the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Hunter Education program.
- Larry is a member of the Noon Rotary Club
- He has been a Meals on Wheels driver, volunteer ski coach, and an athletes representative for the U.S. Biathlon
- A leader in Veterans Affairs, Larry has served as Vice Chair of the State Administration and Veterans Affairs Interim Committee.
- VFW award. For meritorious and distinguished service in furthering the aims and ideals of the Veterans of Foreign wars of the United States.
