Here's part of some letters to the Bozeman Chronicle about affordable housing:
...Affordable housing is a difficult issue, but I strongly suspect that Tammy Hall has no interest in finding a solution. She would probably rather snipe at any attempt to address the problem since it will probably have to involve some sort of governmental action. Let's consider the ramifications of not trying to do anything. Do we really want Bozeman to become the next unaffordable community like Jackson Hole? ...

When I moved here in 1992, I remember seeing on the news stories of how families were having to leave their homes and camp out because they couldn’t afford them any more. That was when one could buy a decent home for $40,000 to $60,000 dollars. Now, how is anyone to survive when Bozeman has become a second home investment area for wealthy nonresidents who barely contribute to the local economy and community?
If Bozeman residents want quality, hardworking people out, that leaves a cold, empty space to reside. Thank our lucky stars we have compassionate people like Marcia Youngman sitting on our City Commission and not people like Mike Comstock.

Bozeman Deaconess Health Services is on its way to creating more than 150 affordable homes in light of a Bozeman City Commission decision.
The commission Monday night voted 3-1 on an affordable-housing plan from BDHS, the nonprofit organization that owns and runs Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.
"It's refreshing to see a developer come in front of us and put forth some
creative ideas to our growing concerns," Commissioner Sean Becker said.
