Who We Are

Officially, the Gallatin County Democratic Central Committee (GCDCC) is charted and organized under three authorities: 1) the 2007 Montana Code Annotated, Section 13.38.101 - 205, 2) the Rules of the Democratic Party of the State of Montana, and 3) the Rules of Gallatin County Democratic Central Committee.

As adopted 10/22/2007, Section I, D, 6. states:
"The Democratic Party, on all levels, shall support the broadest possible political participation without consideration of race, color, creed, sex, age, national origin, religion, ethnic identity, economic status, or philosophical persuasion."

We are composed of precinct committeemen and committeewomen either elected (in state Primary Elections, usually even numbered years) or appointed by majority vote of the GCDCC. Precinct committeemen and committeewomen elect the officers in odd numbered years; all serve two year terms. Officers are comprised of: a chair person, vice-chair person (gender balanced); secretary; treasurer; state committee man and woman; congressional committee man and woman, as well as four alternates.

In the sense of small "d" democracy, we are a grass roots amalgam of volunteers who, by and large, embrace the platforms of both the National Democratic Party and the Montana Democratic Party. Committeemen, committeewomen and other volunteers are welcome to help in local, state and national campaigns by: canvassing, making calls and answering phones, data entry, putting up signs, calling in to talk radio, writing letters to the editor, facilitating mailings and lending a hand where and when needed. Click on Get Involved to find more information on volunteering.
