West Valley Democrats
Dear Folks,
We will have a strong showing of Gallatin County Democrats at the Belgrade Fall Festival this weekend with nearly all of the candidates that are running for office marching in the parade at 10 am and a booth in Lewis and Clark Park immediately afterwards until 4 pm. There, we will pass out balloons, water, ice pops and good cheer. Please let me know if you would: 1) like to march in the Parade under one of the candidate’s banners (lots of openings for Lindeen, Tester and others—choose your favorite); 2) help with the booth before or afterwards; and/or 3) stand in the crowd and wave and cheer your friends marching by. It is important to have friends and supporters in the crowd cheering, making a fuss over the parade showing by the Dems and giving permission to those around you to enjoy what they see of the Democrats.
Please add your support to a really fun time and a winning cause!!
Also, we will have a meeting again –sorry for the lapse on Tuesday, September 19 at 5:30 in the Belgrade Library meeting room. We have a lot to talk about. Also, if you would like a yard sign, I have lots. Please consider asking friends in prime spots if they would like one or more on their property.
Many thanks for your help & support,
Elizabeth
Letter from Elizabeth Marum:
- we would like to refer to ourselves as the West Valley Democrats to better incorporate all the interested folks from Belgrade west to Three Forks and south to Gallatin Gateway, and to include anyone that wants to help and participate in Democratic Party at this end of the county. If you know of other folks that feel displaced and in need of Democratic support, spread the word.
- We will conduct monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of every month and will run notices of these meetings on the Gallatin County Democrats website, the newspapers (Chronicle, Belgrade News, Three Forks paper, etc) and run PSAs to publicize our meetings so folks know where to find us.. If we find we outgrow our digs, we will consider renting a room—perhaps at the River Rock community center for a nominal fee; or we may just switch out our meeting place to spread ourselves across the valley even more. Meeting locations will be posted on the website at www.gallatindemocrats.com
- We will make big pushes for voter registration as we are in the fastest growing region in the state at this time. Susan Roughton has agreed to chair the voter registration committee and we will make every attempt to have a conspicuous presence at public events and in front of the grocery stores on the weekends. Susan can be reached at brougton@mcn.net Please let Susan know what shifts you might take, or what neighborhoods you can canvas.
- Loren Acton, Candidate for HD 69, and Lynea Seher, Candidate for Gallatin County Commissioner, both talked of their campaigns and asked us to support them. Efforts to get the word out for these wonderful candidates will be needed especially as the summer progresses. Save some time to aid these campaigns and give them that extra boost especially in August, September and October, as well as the other candidates in our area: Laura Obert, HD 68; Jackson Cyr, HD 67; and John Vincent, HD 70. The groundwork can be laid now, and this will facilitate better results in the November election.
I think we all can sense a ground-swell of change. It’s high time! It’s also an exciting time to be part of that change, so please think about what you can do to be part of this, and bring a friend or colleague to our next meeting.
With all best wishes,
Elizabeth
